ASHEVILLE MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES
Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor | Collaborative Law Professional Neutral
Reese Wells, LCMHC, NCC, MA
Thank you for being here. I am a licensed mental health clinician and collaborative law professional based in Asheville, North Carolina. My practice is dedicated to supporting individuals and families as they navigate life’s complex transitions—from personal mental health journeys to the intricate dynamics of legal and financial restructuring. I believe that healing and growth occur within safe, non-judgmental relationships where we can explore new perspectives with transparency and trust.
Clinical Focus & Therapeutic Approach
I work with adults and adolescents navigating stress, anxiety, depression, and relationship challenges, with a particular focus on emotional management and healthy manhood. As a clinically trained body-mind therapist, my approach is rooted in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing, and Body-Mind Counseling.
Mindfulness & Present-Moment Awareness: Mindfulness is the thread that connects all my services. In session, I often invite clients to pause and notice what they are feeling in their bodies, using these somatic cues to bridge thoughts and emotions.
Expressive Arts Therapy: Alongside my master’s degree in Clinicial Mental Health Counseling from Appalachian State University, I received a graduate certificate in Expressive Arts Therapy. Using principles of EXAT, I integrate creative, multi-modal techniques to help clients process experiences that are often difficult to put into words.
Relational Connection: I value authenticity and bring my true self into every session. I believe there is nothing "wrong" with you; rather, we are working together to develop the strategies you need to thrive.
Collaborative Law Mental Health Professional Neutral
Beyond traditional clinical work, I serve as a trained Collaborative Law Mental Health Professional (MHP) Neutral. In this capacity, I facilitate communication for families moving through financial settlements and legal processes in Western North Carolina. My goal is to maintain a neutral, grounded environment that prioritizes the well-being of all parties involved, ensuring that transitions are handled with dignity and clarity.
Connection to Nature & Community
My professional philosophy is deeply influenced by my life outside the office and a commitment to simple living. I carry a strong belief that our connection to the earth is vital for our mental and emotional health.
Outdoor Connection: My background as a wilderness therapy field guide and my passions for bike touring, endurance running, and camping inform my resilience-based approach. I also find immense grounding in the patient process of gardening. This same appreciation for growth extends to my love for traveling and exploring the beauty in new landscapes.
Community & Passion: I am dedicated to community building and helping others discover their own unique "sparks." I believe that finding one's passion is a cornerstone of a fulfilling life.
Joe: Many clients find comfort in my dog, Joe, a certified Canine Good Citizen. His presence reminds us of the power of unconditional support, play, and simple presence. If you'd like, Joe can be a part of our therapeutic journey together.
